Keynote speech by Councillor Ian Lucas, Leader of Eastbourne Borough Council
Eastbourne is on the brink of significant economic and social development and Eastbourne Borough Council, in conjunction with Wealden District Council, East Sussex County Council and Tourism South East, is developing the economic vision for the region for the next 15 years.
Cllr Lucas will discuss the regeneration of Eastbourne’s town centre which is set to inject around £100 million of private investment in to the town. He will bring you up to date on the exciting prospect of the Cultural Centre which will feature art galleries, conference/exhibition halls, community activity rooms, café and shop and the plans to celebrate its completion with a cultural festival October 2007. News too from the Eastbourne’s Enterprise Hub in South Street which is currently supporting over 35 businesses.
1.30pm
‘Buy with Confidence & Business Support Network’
Mina O’Brien, ESCC Trading Standards Business Support Officer
The Buy with Confidence scheme was launched at the Chamber’s exhibition in 2004 and has since gone from strength to strength with almost 200 local companies now on the register.
The Buy with Confidence scheme promotes and supports good, reliable companies whilst in turn increasing consumer protection by providing an Approved Trader list. It increases consumer confidence and reduces those time-wasting complaints, whilst bringing recognition to businesses who offer high standards of customer care.
The Business Support Network (BSN) is a new initiative to keep businesses and local business organisations up to date with information relevant to their trading activities.
2.30pm
